Perform analysis and design for any type of foundation
STAAD Foundation Advanced is a comprehensive structural foundation analysis and design software application that includes capabilities specific to foundation components of almost all types such as isolated, combined, pile cap and mat foundations. The mat foundations can either be with or without piles.
Engineers and designers use STAAD Foundation Advanced for their foundation projects including those for building and industrial structures. With STAAD Foundation Advanced, you can produce advanced calculation reports with to-scale footing sketches, graphs and formulae with code references along with bill of quantities, CAD exportable detail, schedule, and general arrangement (GA) drawings.
Certain functionalities from STAAD Foundation Advanced software are accessible with a STAAD.Pro licence. But to experience the full functionality that STAAD Foundation Advanced provides, such as the finite element analysis of all foundation types, you will need to have access with a license of either Structural WorkSuite or STAAD Foundation Advanced.
Integrate common foundation designs
The software integrates all common foundation designs including isolated, combined, pile-cap and mat foundations in one project environment. This means the user gets to assign, analyze, design, review the results, and create deliverables for all the foundation types assigned to the superstructure in a single environment.
Import and export
STAAD Foundation Advanced is seamlessly integrated with STAAD.Pro. . Any analyzed STAAD.Pro file can be imported into or exported to STAAD Foundation Advanced. It automatically brings in all column positions (and/or finite elements representing walls or slabs), cross sectional properties, and support reactions. Certain changes made to the superstructure model resulting in altered column and/or wall positions or support reactions can be re-imported to re-evaluate the substructure.
Perform Finite Element Analysis
STAAD Foundation Advanced designs complex foundations using its object-based modeling environment via the mat foundation module. Whether it is rectangular or complex polygonalor includes openings, one can model, analyze, design, and produce drawings. STAAD Foundation Advanced leverages the finite element analysis capabilities of STAAD.Pro and employs an innovative technique to optimize reinforcement requirements. The FE analysis can also be employed for isolated, combined and pile cap analysis if engineers choose to do so as an alternative to rigid analysis.
Generate detailed plan, elevation, and sectional views
Detailed drawings that include plan, elevation, and sectional views with rebar marks can be generated. Schedule drawing gives a summary table for reinforcement results. GA drawings include all the footings designed in the project to scale with grid lines and grid marks that help identify interference.

Analysis and Design
The sophisticated mesh generation within STAAD Foundation Advanced automatically handles holes (cut-outs) as well as inner regions with different thicknesses or soil properties. Physical loading objects can be as diversified as irregular load, circular load, quadrilateral load, line load, and point load on space. The program automatically detects uplift and redistributes the force. For vibrational analysis of machine foundation, STAAD Foundation Advanced generates solid elements, dynamic loads, and analysis constraints based on user input.
- Support for both flexible and rigid methods. Optimize footing dimensions
- Sophisticated FEM static analysis for mat foundation and dynamic analysis for machine foundation powered by reliable STAAD analysis engine
- Support for an unlimited number of load cases and load combinations
- User-defined reinforcing zones and blocks for optimal reinforcement distribution
- Neglects design moments below columns for mat foundation
- Slab design along any cut line to simulate manual mat design technique
- Pedestal design
- Analysis for partial uplift caused by biaxial bending for all footing types
Design Codes
STAAD Foundation Advanced supports many concrete codes: ACI 318-2005, ACI 318-2008, ACI 318-2011, BS 8110, IS-456-2000, AS 3600-2004, CSA 23.3-04, GB50007-2002 and EN 1992-1-1-2004. System Configuration Guide: STAAD Foundation Advanced 2024 (v24.00.00 and v24.00.01)
Processor | Intel® Pentium or AMD® processor 3.0 GHz or greater. |
Memory | 1 GB minimum, 2 GB recommended. More memory almost always improves performance, particularly when working with larger models. 4 GB or more can help speed up solutions for very large complex models with large numbers of load cases. |
Video | Graphics card supported by OpenGL. See the graphics card manufacturer for latest information on graphics drivers. 256 MB of video RAM or higher is recommended. If insufficient video RAM or no graphics card supported by OpenGL can be found, the application will attempt to use software emulation. For optimal performance, graphics display color depth should be set to 24-bit or higher. When using a color depth setting of 16-bit, some inconsistencies will be noted. |
Screen Resolution |
A minimum screen resolution of 1280x1024 is required, but higher is recommended. Note: 4k displays are currently not supported. |
Hard Disk | Requirements will vary depending on the modules you are installing. A typical minimum is 500MB free space. |
Supported Operating Systems | Windows 11 (64-bit) Windows 10 (64-bit) Bentley does not support its software running on Microsoft operating systems versions that Microsoft has retired. For more information on Microsoft's application retirement policy, refer to the Microsoft Lifecycle Policy. For similar information on Bentley products, refer to the Bentley Lifecycle Policy. |
Additional RAM, disk space, and video memory will enhance the performance of STAAD Foundation Advanced.
The minimum amount of physical + virtual memory required by the program is over 600MB. You may need to ensure that adequate amounts of virtual memory are available and that parameters such as paging file sizes should be large enough or span over multiple drives if the free space on any one drive runs low.
You should have a basic familiarity with Microsoft® Windows® systems in order to use the software.
